Kan Ka Ho
(Linguistics and Language Applications–major)

Partner: Shandong University

"I joined the internship to Shandong University last summer (from July to August, 5 weeks in total). This internship gave me an opportunity to analyze the results of a provided corpus. I was instructed to discern whether the are systematic deviations in the computerized results and real-life readings. If there are, I needed to attribute the reason to linguistic or cultural factors."

"Throughout my internship in the 5 weeks, I also had the opportunity to accompany Professor Sheng to travel to Ji Ning Shi, another city in Shandong province, to collect phonological data of local dialects. The data were collected in order to help construct the Chinese National Corpus. "
